You, as a Residential Support Worker will be joining a company with a wonderful reputation in the industry with a school and a college. We nurture and develop staff members, this in turn enables our clients to receive the best possible support for their future. We are absolute specialists in what we do and we support learners who have complex learning disabilities, whether behavioural, emotional or social. Our staff team are highly supported themselves, whether that be the training we give or the free healthcare and free meals that our staff receive.
As a Residential Support Worker, will you be reporting to the Care Managers or Head of Care and you’ll be mentored by these people. You will be supporting the learners both in the school and out in the community. You’ll be ensuring that equal opportunities are afforded to our learners and caring for their complex needs and challenging behaviours. Residential Support Workers need to ensure that they are striving to meet and exceed the needs of the learners within an educational, social and emotional aspect.
Qualifications and Skills
Although it would be desirable, it is by no means essential that you have an NVQ in Social Care or equivalent to be a Residential Support worker with us. It is however essential to have at least 8 months’ experience within a Health & Social or Educational setting and have worked with challenging behaviours before.
The skills for our Residential Support Workers are all about the attitude and willingness to develop and do the best you can for yourself, the company and most importantly the clients. You will be required to constantly undertake training and courses, which will strengthen your knowledge and allow you to give the best possible service.
