Common Pharmacy Interview Questions

One of our most senior consultants, John Churchward, has released his top tips on successfully passing an interview as a pharmacy professional. John has seen hundreds of pharmacy professionals nail their interviews with his advice. However, he’s also seen candidates flounder under the pressure of the interview room. When you progress to a role with Quad Recruitment, 1:1 training sessions specific to your interview are provided. Below are six of his top interview rules!

Clinical Pharmacy Interview Questions

Tip One - Do Your Research!

This might seem like a basic expectation, but you’d be surprised how many candidates I speak with who haven’t even checked out the company they’re potentially going to work for before attending an interview. Winging it just doesn’t cut it. Make sure you know the foundations of the business: who they are, what they’re about, and always check out your interviewer on LinkedIn. How do you know it's the company for you if you don’t know who they are?

Tip Two - Show Your Personality & Confidence!

Yes, your CV looks great and your cover letter is amazing, but who are you? Showing off your personality is KEY. Your experience is a deciding factor, but whether you’ll fit into the team is just as important. Be confident, enthusiastic, excited, and relaxed. Surprisingly, interviewers want to know about you both professionally and personally.

Tip Three - Attitude!

Again, be enthusiastic and positive. You could be the best candidate in the world, but if your attitude stinks, then it will be a NO, guaranteed! A positive mental attitude and a can-do approach, and you’re winning!

Tip Four - Have A Conversation!

Yes, the interviewer has seen your CV; that’s why you’re there, right? But you’re both human, so have a conversation, let it flow! Don’t read off your CV, build rapport, and try to find common ground. This will help you show off your personality and let them get to know the real you!

Tip Five - Ask Questions!

Always, always, always ask questions. You’re not the only one being interviewed; you’re interviewing the interviewer to make sure that it’s the right job and the right company for you. Try to stay away from salary, sickness allowance, or benefits. Ask company-related questions, for example: what are the future plans for the company, what challenges are they experiencing, what are their pain points? You can even ask the interviewer questions: what do they enjoy about their role, how did they get to where they are in their career? People love talking about themselves, so ask away!

Tip Six - Showcase Yourself!

An interviewer wants to see what you can bring to the table, what’s different about you, and why they should pick you above all the other candidates. This is your time to shine. Talk about your achievements, both professionally and personally, and how you’ve achieved what you’ve achieved. Discuss issues you’ve experienced in your past employment, how you’ve dealt with them, and the outcomes. You never know, looking back at the questioning stage, you might be demonstrating that you can deal with their pain points.
