My longstanding, prestigious partner is recruiting in Birmingham.

We are currently seeking an innovative Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist to lead our team of 45 professionals at their Outpatient and Discharge Pharmacies, along with supporting the management team at their Homecare Delivery Pharmacy.

As a Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist, you will collaborate with the multidisciplinary hospital team to ensure excellent patient care.

This position involves a unique blend of community and hospital pharmacy, contributing to enhancing patient experiences across care settings

Requirements -

  • GPhC Registered Pharmacist
  • Minimum 5 Years of Experience
  • Extensive experience within a senior-level management position (community, homecare or clinical)
  • Able to manage a large team

Objectives -

  • Ensure the smooth and successful provision of outpatient and discharge pharmacy services.
  • Take responsibility for ordering and overseeing all medications.
  • Lead and set an example for the pharmacy team.
  • Effectively handle and supervise the business operations.
  • Provide timely and high-quality outpatient and discharge services to patients.
  • Foster positive working relationships with prescribers.

Responsibilities -

Management

  • Manage and develop pharmacy staff, ensuring effective performance management.
  • Provide professional leadership and advice to all pharmacists and pharmacy staff.
  • Conduct appraisals, develop training plans, and ensure adherence to the Code of Ethics.
  • Support equality and diversity rights of patients and colleagues.
  • Maintain high standards of communication with stakeholders

Operational Management

  • Ensure compliance with GPhC regulations and maintain the Pharmacy Record.
  • Deliver timely and efficient pharmacy services within available resources.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and optimize staff deployment within budget constraints.
  • Attend regular meetings with the Superintendent and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Respect and maintain the privacy and confidentiality of patient information.
  • Ensure staff are trained to handle confidentiality issues professionally.

Drug Management

  • Adhere to principles outlined in DH publication for controlled drug management.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for the safe management of controlled drugs.
  • Ensure compliance with prescribing regulations and conduct regular stock audits.

Medicines Management

  • Ensure safe and secure medicine practice.
  • Support adherence to the hospital formulary and monitor medicines expenditure.
  • Maintain compliance with local and national standards through audits and quality initiatives.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Comply with financial instructions and national guidance for pharmacy transactions.
  • Have delegated authority for the purchase, receipt, and storage of medicines.
  • Provide timely and accurate information on pharmacy costs and activities.

Standards and Quality

  • Ensure all aspects of the pharmacy service meet national and Trust standards.
  • Implement an annual audit and performance management program for pharmacy services.
  • Implement Patient Safety Alerts and Rapid Response Reports.
  • Ensure ongoing monitoring of procedures and clinical and organisational audits.
