Quality Assurance Manager - Cannabis-Based Medication Essex

With significant growth plans in 2024, they're leading the way in the UK's distance-selling cannabis market based out of their dispensary in Basildon. 

They connect patients with a dedicated team of specialists including Doctors, Pharmacists, and Patient Support Coordinators, All focused on finding the relief their patients deserve. 

Their passion is clear, providing safe and effective access to life-changing medication for a variety of conditions, including chronic pain, palliative care needs, cancer, neurological disorders, and mental health.

The Position - 

We are seeking a driven, passionate, and confident Quality Assurance Manager to join their growing team. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire QA function across both their pharmacy dispensing and wholesale sites. 

This is a pivotal role in ensuring patient safety and product quality within their rapidly expanding company.

This is a hybrid position, 3 days on site, 2 days working from home.

Responsibilities - 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive QA program that adheres to WDA and GDP guidelines.
  • Oversee all aspects of QA activities at both the pharmacy dispensing and wholesale sites, ensuring consistent application of procedures and regulations.
  • Be able to manage and mentor a team of QA personnel, providing ongoing training and guidance.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of processes, documentation, and facilities to identify and address any potential quality issues.
  • Manage and investigate customer complaints and product returns.
  • Liaise with the MHRA and GPhC to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidance.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive QA documentation, including reports, procedures, and policies.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest regulations and industry best practices in cannabis-based medications.
  • Continuously work to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the QA program.

Ideal Personal Profile - 

  • Minimum of 2 year's experience in a Quality Assurance role within a regulated industry, pharmaceuticals or healthcare.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining a WDA and GDP compliant QA program.
  • In-depth knowledge of MHRA and GPhC regulations and guidance as they pertain to cannabis-based medications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse team of stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • A meticulous and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • A passion for patient safety and quality assurance.
  • A Bachelors Degree in pharmacy, chemistry, biology, or a related scientific field
